The benefits of uncertainty
Uncertainty usually carries feelings of angst, however, it can be a time of great healing and growth when we understand it fully.
1. Times of uncertainty is a transition period, a clearing out of the old, to make way for the new. These times are usually moments when we let go of what is unhealthy for our mind, body, and spirit, to help us move forward.
2. They can be opportunistic times. Many people have used times of uncertainty to do something they have always wanted to do, but have been so caught up with life, they haven't been able to find the time or energy to do it. It has led some people to follow their creative desires and dreams.
3. Uncertainty can bring clarity about who we are. When we are deeply involved with a project, a workspace, or particular relationships, we can lose sight of who we are. Times of uncertainty helps us to refocus, and remember, our values and qualities of importance, that have guided us through trial and tribulation. Times of uncertainty, force us to think, this is what is important and what isn't. This, therefore, is what I need to do to keep going.
4. Uncertainty helps us cultivate faith if we are open to it. Part of not knowing where life will lead us helps us to develop faith in something greater than ourselves to guide us. The more faith we develop, the more faith we will have in moments of uncertainty on the horizon.
5. Uncertainty forces us to stop and re-evaluate our lives, our relationships, our work situations, and our feelings and emotions about who we are. We are forced to ask ourselves whether we are satisfied with how things are and if not, what we need to do, to take us to a place of contentment. Do we need to discern what relationships to invest time and energy into? Do we need to change jobs because we are not being valued? Do we need to shift towns or do we need to re-prioritize family and work commitments?
6. When we understand that life has uncertainty and everyone experiences it in some way, we become less fearful of the unknown, and build trust within ourselves, drawing strength from our spirit.
